This morning Year 3 had a very exciting workshop all about volcanoes and earthquakes! We used drama to travel to Southern Italy and Sicily to explore the volcanoes that are there and then travelled to San Fracisco to learn about Earthquakes. We learnt about active, dormant and extinct volcanoes and all about tectonic plates. We also used drama to recreate a tsunami! Did you know that in AD 79 Mount Vesuvius destroyed the Roman city of Pompeii covering it in hot ash? Did you know that earthquakes are measured on a special scale called a Richter scale? Year 3 do! Ask us some more interesting facts about volcanoes and earthquakes.
