At Devonshire Road Primary School, we offer French as the Modern Foreign Language. In line with the National Curriculum, we aim to foster a love for languages and promote an understanding of diverse cultures. Through engaging activities such as songs, games, and conversation practice, our students develop essential skills to communicate effectively in French. The purpose of studying French is to enrich our pupils' educational experience, enhancing their cognitive abilities and broadening their world view.

"I like learning new words in French."

"We use scaffolds and pictures to help us know what the words mean. The videos help us pronounce it right, too."

"We do lots of reading and writing in the lessons, as well as speaking and listening to French."

"I have learned how to describe people in French, like their height, eye colour, hair colour."

"If we went to France, we could use the things we have learned to help us if we are stuck."

"French is a bit different. The colour words go at the end rather than before the noun."
