Religious Education (RE) is an integral part of our curriculum, fostering pupils' understanding of various beliefs, values, and traditions. Through the exploration of different religions, RE aims to promote respect, tolerance, and critical thinking, equipping students with the skills to navigate a diverse society. The subject encourages learners to reflect on their own beliefs and the beliefs of others, enhancing personal development and social cohesion. By engaging with ethical questions and exploring moral dilemmas, RE prepares children to become informed and empathetic citizens in today’s multicultural world.
Devonshire Road Primary School aims to reflect the multi faith community it serves in both its collective worship and its Religious Education provision within the school. We also ensure that we fulfill all the government`s statutory guidelines as regards to worship and Religious Education, and deliver our curriculum through the locally agreed syllabus (SACRE).
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from all or part of Religious Education teaching and also from collective worship.
