At Devonshire Road, we firmly believe that the children's voices should be heard; they are the future generation that will move the world to new heights, after all. As part of our British Values offer to help teach about Democracy, our School Council are dedicated to being the voices of all students from each class to help drive forward improvements that they are passionate about.
Our School Council provides a meaningful way for pupils to share their views, opinions and suggestions with members of staff and the Senior Leadership Team, and helps to provide leadership and development opportunities for them in the future.
In previous years, the school council have led on the following elements of school life:
- Improvements to the playground equipment;
- Raising money for new playground markings;
- Helped organise fundraising events such as MacMillan Coffee Morning and the annual Enterprise event;
- Worked with their classes to complete the 'Big Ask Survey'.
